Improving Cyber Resilience
About Guernsey Cyber Security Centre (GCSC)
Cyber-attacks, from hostile activity by other countries to online fraud and ransomware, pose a critical risk to businesses, islanders, our public services, and the general economy.
Guernsey Cyber Security Centre is therefore being established to work closely with the States of Guernsey to provide a range of services which will prepare, protect, and defend the Bailiwick from cyber-attacks.
We are currently working hard to establish GCSC, which will be operated by Jersey Cyber Security Centre (JCSC), working in close partnership with, and under the oversight of, the Office of the Committee for Home Affairs of the States of Guernsey.
GCSC is the national Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) for Guernsey. GCSC is responsible for promoting and improving the cyber resilience across the Island's critical national infrastructure, business communities and citizens to reduce the likelihood and impact of major cyber incidents in Guernsey.
The main functions of GCSC will be:
- Providing local cyber security guidance for individuals, businesses and organisations
- Monitoring vulnerabilities in Guernsey public networks
- Supporting organisations to address security gaps
- Giving advice and coordination support in the event of a cyber incident
- Providing education, training and awareness to help islanders improve their cyber security
- Running incident response exercises
GCSC forms part of an international cyber emergency response network and represents the interests of Guernsey with the cyber defence community internationally, helping to maintain and strengthen the Island's international reputation as a safe place to live and to do business online.
GCSC will also be able to provide expert assistance in the case of a cyber security incident. GCSC is an independent voice for cyber security and designed to operate in partnership with, and at arms length from, the States of Guernsey.
Cyber Security
How GCSC can help your business or organisation
Guernsey Cyber Security Centre is run by cyber security experts. Once the Centre has been established, we will be able to provide cyber security advice and best practice guidance on the management of cyber security risk to help you raise the awareness of the importance of cyber security within your own business, as well as help with incident response processes, policies and procedures.
In the meantime, you are welcome to contact the team as we work to establish GCSC. We welcome advice and input from the Guernsey community as we build this capability. While we work to deliver the activities needed to establish a local capability in Guernsey, our existing team in Jersey will also be able to advise you in an emergency or provide advice on cyber security matters.
For more information about GCSC, please see the official announcement by the States of Guernsey here and the FAQ published by JCSC here.
